Booking an appointment

Advanced Access Appointment System

The Practice operates the Advanced Access Appointment System. This is an On The Day booking system for GP appointments. Patients who need to be seen by a GP should phone the surgery on the day they would like to be seen.

Appointments may be made by contacting reception on 01603 663363. Depending on clinical need, urgent and emergency same-day appointments are available at short notice. To make an appointment on the same day it is suggested that you call at 8:30am.

We offer pre-bookable appointments between 8.30am - 9.00am and one appt at 10.00am and 15.30pm on a daily basis with each GP Monday to Friday. These appointments can be booked in advance. When all the pre-bookable appointments have been booked you will be asked to ring on the day.

Old Palace Medical Practice currently meets the government targets of patients being able to see a health professional on the next surgery day and a doctor within 2 working days. However, this may not always be with the doctor of your choice whom you may have to wait longer to see.

Nurse and Health Care Assistant Appointments

There has been no change in the way the Nurse and Healthcare Assistant appointments are booked. These are booked in advance as normal.

 

Visits

If you require a home visit because of your medical condition, please contact surgery reception on 01603 663363 between 8.30am and 10.30am. Visits will be completed the same day not before 2pm. Visit requests received after 10.30am may not be completed until the following day except in the case of very urgent or emergency medical problems which will be dealt with according to medical priority. The reception staff will always ask for a contact telephone number so that the medical staff may call you to clarify the urgency of any problem.

  • The Doctor will call back after morning surgery and afternoon surgery
  • The Doctor will prioritise the call from the details of the problem given
  • The Duty Doctor will return the call
